So there's kinda been ALOT going down in the hood lately.. hence my lack of blogging at the minute (plus I have possibly been a little bit tired/lazy). But it's the weekend and it's a sleepy afternoon, so I'm going to play catch up (hope you're in the mood for reading!).

First, it was my birthday last weekend, and I turned 27 (this photo is me on my birthday - do I look like I'm nearly 30? AHHH!). The last couple of years, I've had "HOLY MOLY I'M GETTING OLD" whingeing sessions (poor Patrick..) in the months leading up to my birthday, but then I kinda get used to my new age and get over it until the next year. I think I still feel like I'm in my early twenties - even though life is a lot, lot different now to what it was like back then (thank goodness!).
Anyways, so we went out for the yummiest dindin at a Japanese restaurant (it's called GYO and it's down near the strand, if you're ever in the 'ville) and I got an AWESOME new printer for my birthday - yay! I'm a lucky girl.

We spent AGES trying to get a nice photo, but it was just not happening -
the one below is just about the only nice one out of about a million.
(ps. if you love 'vintage'-esque photos as much as I do, you can
download some fantastic photoshop actions for when you don't have time

Second on my news reel - WE'RE GOING TO JAPAN! Remember when I mentioned it was on my list of things to do this year? Well, when I got an email from Jetstar saying they were having a 2-for-1 sale, we pretty much jumped at the chance and bought tickets right then - I was so excited I couldn't sleep that night! We're going for two weeks in September, and I'm already counting down the months!

Next, I wanted to share a purchase I made this week (of which, might I add, I'm very proud): I got a pair of brand new oxfords for $20. Yep, you heard me, $20 - thank you very much, Target! I've been thinking about getting some new shoes lately (I am mostly just a strictly havaianas/gladiators kinda girl) but I pretty much started obsessing about making a pair oxfords mine when I saw this blog post over at Twitch Vintage. The pair I got are really soft and I'm SUPER stoked that they only cost me $20 - can't wait to wear them with a dress.
(Please excuse my extremely dodgy photo and the fact
that they look like school shoes - I took this on my phone)
- here they are for your viewing pleasure:

Last (but most definitely not least) - we're moving back to the big smoke (AKA brisbane). Well, actually, it's 'moving back' for me, but P-Money is a first timer. There's so many things I LOVE (and will miss) about living here in north queensland, but I guess it's time for a change, and a fresh start for us. We're planning on making the journey down in a couple of weeks, so lately we've just been trying to get everything organised - removalists, house cleaners, packing and sorting etc. SO much to do! Moving house is not fun at all, but I am excited to see my friends and fam (it's been ages since I've been back home) and to be living nearby again.

And that's pretty much the end of my (big) news! Phew! Here is a photo I took just this afternoon from our backyard... so many pretty shades of orange and pink, with a little bit of blue sky just peeking through, and everything was bathed in the softest orange light. Definitely going to miss these north queensland sunsets.
